Acai berry diet was the craze years ago — what happened?
Acai berry diet was touted to help lose weight, cure diseases, and clear skin. Acai berry diet . . . wait, what? Acai berries are fruit rich in antioxidants and nutrients but no acai berry diet exists.
Some of the benefits of acai berry are:

Acai berry promotes “detox,” “acai burn,” “acai pure” and “acai berry edge,” promising quick weight loss. Often promoters promised massive weight loss sans exercise and the claim that you can lose up to 20 pounds per week. They’ve even gone as far as selling supplements like fiber and detox products which claimed to burn more fat, loss of appetite, and increase metabolism. Acai berry supplements because of its detoxing effects are often used with other weight loss supplements.

So what was the hype for?
Some health claims for acai berry are valid. It can reduce the risks of certain diseases however most fruits have this benefit.
Because of the initial success of the acai berry and its health benefits many have experience weight loss in the process primarily due to the discipline of the product and the need to follow what is needed for success. And, a lot of individuals report experiencing more energy and less appetite.
Scientific research does support some of the health claims made for acai berry. Diseases such as some cancers, cardiovascular and diabetes have been reduced as a result of consuming acai berry due to its antioxidant properties. Antioxidants prevents oxidation of chemicals founds in foods and body tissue that may possibly damage cells.
Acai berry does have health benefits but lacks sufficient evidence of substantial weight loss. There is no conclusive evidence unfortunately for weight loss claims. It is possible, however, to lose weight while taking acai berry but may be because of following suggested regimen for other health benefits that may limit caloric intake.
Acai berry has its benefits but should not be confused with a weight loss product. If you want to take acai berry supplements, do your research, consult your healthcare professional and limit intake for long periods of time.
